Back pain, whether it's low or mid back pain, is by far the most common reason someone comes to visit the Chiropractor. At Northwood Chiropractic Oxford, we focus on precision and detail to get to the root cause of this issue on a daily basis. So what causes it and how can we fix it?
Back pain is often caused by a misalignment (restriction and malposition) of one or more of the joints in your back. The pain usually comes from injury to the joints, muscles and ligaments and the pressure that is caused to the nerve within the back. This injury is normally caused by increased load which can come from a variety of things such as poor posture, previous trauma or activities that involve repetitive movements that put strain on the back. If the pain comes on after an activity or trauma and it doesn't go away after stopping what you thought was causing it, this suggests a mechanical issue that needs looking at professionally.
When you get a misalignment in the spine like this, the muscles surrounding the problem will often tighten up to compensate and they themselves can produce a lot of pain. Muscles will almost never tighten up for no reason and are often as a result of a mechanical issue within the spine. Therefore almost every back problem will cause a problem in the joints, nerves and muscles simultaneously.
This is also why many people report going for a massage for muscle tightness but only get short term relief. If this is you, then there's likely an underlying issue that needs to be identified and addressed for lasting results.
Using the Gonstead system, we are exerienced at detecting and correcting these misalignments in the spine to restore function and thus allowing the body to start healing again.
The body is a very good healer however when something is not healing, it's a strong indicator that something is interfering.
At Northwood Chiropractic, we simply remove the interference to allow your body to heal again, enabling lasting wellbeing!
I am walking because of Steve, and walking without pain! Now I come from a medical family, I sublux my joints mainly my wrists and ankles. I have seen all sorts of physios, osteopaths and chiropractors over the decades. Until now I have never found a good chiropractor. I told Steve what had happened during the accident, he assessed me, looked at the scans… the first thing he said was my pelvis WAS rotated out of place at my SIJs which was causing the pain and movement problems. He got it…. for the first time in 6 YEARS someone finally knew and understood!!!! In the last month since my first session I am almost pain free. I can stand. Sit. Walk. Thank you to Steve. You are on my short list go to of specialists, I definitely recommend you whole heartedly to anyone who needs your help.
